So firstly, add px onto both sides of the equation: [tex] r=-8x+px-2 [/tex]

Next, add 2 to both sides of the equation: [tex] r+2=-8x+px [/tex]

Next, factor out -x on the right side of the equation: [tex] r+2=-x(8-p) [/tex]

Next, divide both sides by (8 - p): [tex] \frac{r+2}{8-p}=-x [/tex]

Lastly, multiply both sides by -1 and your answer will be [tex] -\frac{r+2}{8-p}=x [/tex]
