substitute eq(1) in eq(2)

we get

[tex](\frac{3}{5} ) x = (\frac{1}{3} ) (76 + x)[/tex]

solving the above equation, we get

x = 95, subsitute in eq(1)

y = 76 + 95

y  = 171
