Answer:

I think Icarus didn't heed his fathers warning because he wanted to experience the rush of being free and being able to fly. He thought his father only wanted to keep him close and keep him from having fun, so he disobeyed and tried to see how high he could fly, and the wax wings melted and he landed in the ocean.
