The model of what a Legislator SHOULDN'T look like was taken from the founding fathers' knowledge of the abuses of the British Parliament. 
        The British Parliament used methods like passing Ex Post Facto laws, Bills of Attainder, and the "Corruption of the Blood" in treason as a means of silencing opposition.
