[tex] \frac{9}{10} - \frac{1}{3} = (\frac{9}{10} \times \frac{3}{3}) - (\frac{1}{3} \times \frac{10}{10})= \frac{27}{30} - \frac{10}{30} [/tex]

[tex]= \frac{17}{30} [/tex]

x = 9/10 - 1/3

Where 'x' is the amount she needs to travel.

Subtract 1/3 from 9/10.

9/10 - 1/3

Convert to denominators of 30:

27/30 - 10/30

Subtract the numerators:

17/30

So she has to travel 17/30 miles more.
